The book, Metaphor and Deixis in Tachelhit, investigates conceptual metaphors and spatial deixis in the Moroccan Tachelhit variety. The first part examines conceptual metaphor in the light of the contemporary theory of metaphor advanced by Lakoff and Johnson (1980). The book sheds light on the conceptual differences between Tachelhit and English language; showing that metaphor can be used as a tool to examine the cultural groupthink of communities. Taking the reader into the linguistically uncharted realm of Tachelhit variety, the book further shows how metaphor can structure gestures the way it structures metaphoric linguistic expressions. The second part of the book explores the means that Tachelhit offers its speakers for spatial deictic reference, an important pragmatic aspect that linguists of Tachelhit have not heeded to.
