In recent years, we have witnessed disturbing encroachments on women’s right to choose and the advancement of various policies aimed at controlling the female body, which respectively limit women’s freedom and affect their well-being. Examples of such political decisions are the ban on abortion in Poland, Alabama (USA), calls for the introduction of a temporary curfew for women in Germany. “Accustomed” to equality, women allow the concept of “duty” to be reimposed on them (if we can even say that it ever disappeared). A woman’s duty is mainly focused on her responsibilities to the motherhood and family. Various social and societal problems such as domestic violence, abortion, low birth rates and negative growth continue to be attributed to women’s retreat from duty. Duty is again used as an argument to limit women’s freedoms and individual rights. The arguments of all supporters of restrictive measures, especially regarding fertility and the female body, are tied to religious motives and justifications.
