Description

This book is an expanded version of the work entitled “Relationship between Student Anxiety and Achievement in Mathematics among Secondary School Students in Ganze District Kilifi County Kenya”. The introduction conceptualizes theoretical the origins and descriptions of both student anxiety and achievement in mathematics. The review of related anxiety-achievement literature notes the need to establish the relationship between student anxiety and achievement in mathematics aimed at addressing the problem posed by females’ underrepresentation in advanced mathematics careers. The anxiety-achievement research methodology is guided by a null hypothesis, “there is no statistically significant relationship between student anxiety and achievement in mathematics”. The descriptive Survey research design of a sample size of 250 students uses the Mathematics Anxiety Rating Scale and Student Mathematics Achievement Test to collect data before correlation. The book reveals a clear cause-effect relationship between student anxiety and achievement in mathematics.
