Description

This book is a new perspective on gender-based violence in homes during COVID-19 lockdowns. While it is indubitably true that women and children were the most affected and abused groups due to the lockdowns during the pandemic, and that men were fingered as culprits given their eroding male ego which turned into abusive behaviors toward women and children in homes, this book argues that men were also victims in a number of cases due to the pressures coming from women and children. The book takes cognizance of the neglect of voices sympathizing with males in the narratives. It further discusses other factors surrounding gender-based violence in Africa and provides a critical analysis of how best Africa can improve gender equality in every domain of life, especially after seeing how policymaking in Africa is generally grounded in gender inequalities.
