Description

This study is a randomized controlled trial (RCT) with two parallel arms. Participants of the trial were all the primary school children in the two villages of Elkeriab and Tayba Elkababish in East Nile locality, Khartoum State, Sudan; who tested positive for Schistosoma haematobium ova in urine testing, infected were randomly assigned to the two groups, Group A received Praziquantel 40 mg/kg and group B who received 60 mg/kg. The objective of this study is to compare the efficacy and side effects of two different doses of PZQ (40mg/kg vs 60 mg/kg). The number of primary school children screened was 1205, positive cases of S.haematobium were 105, positive cases were randomized to two groups, in group A there were 52 children; received 40 mg/kg of PZQ and in group B there were 53 children; received 60 mg/kg of PZQ. The results from all the children who participated in the study were analyzed.
