Description

Without pain and struggle, sweat, blood, and tears, there can be no genuine development in our world. And that’s true for language learning, too, of course. It is rightly said that “to err is human.” During the learning process, we make mistakes and errors. When someone corrects us, we feel frustration and anger for being corrected. The great thing is that the level of success directly correlates with the level of effort. Many factors affect learners’ receptivity to all subjects, particularly a second language. These factors include attention span, anxiety, classroom procedures, self-esteem, competitiveness, motivation, and classroom climate. These factors are correlated and intertwined in that each affects the others and is affected by them. It is anxiety that is said to be the factor that influences students in different ways. In this book, we have discussed the effects of anxiety on the teaching/learning process of English as a foreign language that contains perceptions, ideas, emotions, and actions associated with language acquisition in the classroom, rising from the distinctiveness of the language learning process.
