Description

Entrepreneurship promotion is considered a vital linkage between entrepreneurship and poverty reduction and how it can be used as an engine of growth in Cameroon’s economic development process. The study was conducted using sample survey, case study and historical research design. With respect to the validation of hypothesis; chi-square [x2] was used for statistical testing. The study revealed that Cameroon’s entrepreneurs have performed below expectation due to a combination of problems which range from poor attitude and habits of small business entrepreneurs themselves, environment related factors and inconsistencies of government policies and frequent changes within the administration. The study key recommendation is that government should tackle accelerated development and upgrade rural/urban road and air transport system and other infrastructural facilities head on and review tariff in favour of local manufacturers especially the entrepreneurship operators. From the limited positive impact recorded, the study is of the view that if much support services are given to entrepreneurs, poverty will be reduced and economic development achieved in Cameroon.
