Globally, uncontrolled blood pressure is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality. As the rate of hypertension increases, the number of patients with uncontrolled blood pressure continue to grow. Uncontrolled blood pressure has become a threat to human survival, especially in the developing world, as it is noted even among hypertensive patients taking antihypertensive drugs. Patients suffer tremendously as the disease predisposes them to life-threatening complications such as heart failure and even stroke when they are at their most active life stage. The study aimed to investigate the factors influencing control of blood pressure levels among hypertensive adult patients in Kenya’s Kakamega County. The specific objectives included: to assess patient factors, examine health-care provider factors and determine health institutional factors that influence control of blood pressure levels among hypertensive adult patients in selected hospitals Kakamega County, Kenya based on the clinical guidelines for cardiovascular disease management 2018.
