This book gives historical narrative about Zambia. Zambia is a former colony of Britain. From 1924 to October 1964, Zambia was governed by Colonial Office through appointed Governors. During the aforementioned period, Zambia was called Northern Rhodesia. This book is the first volume of three books. Volume one is a narrative about the works of the governors of Northern Rhodesia from 1924 to 1934. This book gives brief historical background on each of the three governors that covered the period in question. It assesses their activities in civil service, what they did as governors of Northern Rhodesia and brief activities after they were assigned elsewhere. The first governor was Herbert Stanley who defined how the new colony would develop politically, socially and economic wise. His successor was James Crawford Maxwell. He carried on with the administration of Northern Rhodesia from 1927 to 1932. The last in this period was Ronal Storrs who came to Northern Rhodesia after his services in the Middle East were terminated. Storrs had the shortest stay in Northern Rhodesia from 1932 to 1934.
