Description

The book is an African and Biblical interrogation of Jean-Paul Charles Aymard Sartre’s existential Philosophy. Sartre was a French Philosopher and a leading proponent of the French atheistic existentialism. Essentially, the book is an ontological interrogation and comparative analysis of the existentialism of Sartre and that of the African culture and the Bible. The book answers existential questions such as: is there a sharp different between Sartre’s ontology and that of the Africa and the Bible? Is African ontology fatalistic? Is the concept of destiny in Africa deterministic? Is there need for a re- interpretation of Sartre’s dictum: ‘Existence precedes Essence’ in the light of Africa and biblical culture? and Is Sartre’s atheistic stand point still valid? The book is a contribution on the need for better and qualitative human existence. Recommendations are suggested for African countries and Churches in Africa on how to achieve good human life sequel to the comparative approach of the text.
