The Bible and the Environment: A Cry for Justice provides a collection of essays that reflect upon biblical texts in connection with the environmental crises that we now face. The essays focus primarily upon biblical passages in Genesis 1-9 and the Psalms with themes relevant to human responsibility for the environment, which too often have been ignored or, even worse, misinterpreted. These writings are popular theological-biblical evaluations of the scriptures which also speak with passion (and occasional sarcasm) about specific human abuses of our oceans, skies, land, and animal brothers and sisters. The biblical text calls upon us to steward the created order more justly and wisely, lest the environmental crises that we face bring catastrophe upon us.
