Description

In Libreville, the attractiveness of the coastline has led to the installation of human infrastructure without taking into account the specificities of this environment, which is nevertheless fragile. A study (Maloba, 2012) on the sanitation and waste management of the northern and central coast of Libreville had shown that this area was the subject of pernicious degradation. This publication, which takes into account the south coast of Libreville and the coastline of the municipality of Owendo, is the logical continuation of the previous study. It emerges from this research that the problem of the modification and degradation of the Libreville coastline has been widely reported in the media. However, the actions decreed by the public authorities to solve these problems do not seem to be part of an integrated approach or management. Hence their inefficiency, which results in a recurrence or worsening of physical changes in coastal areas and the quality of a number of environmental parameters.
