This book is about herbal intervention on dysregulated blood glucose levels. Blood glucose dysregualtion is a major public health problem. Known as diabetes mellitus, this condition does not have any known cure and therefore its patients are only sustained on antidiabetic drugs that lowers blood glucose level. However, these drugs are not accessible to most individuals especially those living in the low-income settings. In Kenya, the Keiyo community living the western regions of the country have adopted three herbs namely Achyranthes Aspera, Bidens Pilosa and Ajuga Remota for the treatment of Diabetes. We have identified and tested the effects of these herbs on blood glucose and electrolyte levels using the small East African male goats. We determined the baseline levels of blood glucose and electrolyte in the normal goats. Afterwhich, we induced diabetes in the experimental goats then administered the Achyranthes Aspera, Bidens Pilosa and Ajuga Remota leaf extracts and continued monitoring the blood glucose levels.
