COVID-19 is the main pandemic currently debilitating our globe. It has transformed the way we perceive ourselves, relate to others, do business, and even envision our future. Research on global experiences indicates we are heading towards more pandemics of such an alarming magnitude. This calls for a close analysis of the challenges we have had in fighting such pandemics thus far in an effort to prepare effectively for future ones. One such is the disconcerting role fake social media communications have played in countering national and international efforts to contain and reduce the impact of COVID-19. This book project is an effort to establish and conscientise endangered communities on the impact of the fake social media communications by analysing their role in heightening people’s vulnerability in the face of COVID-19.
