The book is woven around the search for an epistemological understanding of alchemy in higher education. There is a need to build capacity, enabling higher education leaders to migrate from merely knowing higher education to a conceptual understanding. Leadership in higher education must be prepared to track and understand the broadest trends in higher education, as well as the internationalisation of higher education; at the same time, attending effectively to the unique needs and aspirations of their institutions, local communities, and national contexts. The complexity surrounding internationalisation of higher education reveal that designated framework for internationalisation sufficient because there are other social forces that foster internationalisation activities independently of the designed framework. The important contribution of this book is the understanding that there are many internationalisation enactment attributes but the dominant ones to be considered are understanding internationalisation, purpose for internationalisation, commitment to internationalisation and the leadership for internationalisation.
