Description

This study explores conflict management within African traditional religion, focusing on the Abagusii community in Kenya. It highlights the crucial role of elders, revered for their wisdom, in resolving disputes. By examining traditional conflict resolution practices, the study contributes to broader discussions on the intersection of culture, religion, and conflict management, offering insights for sustainable peace in African societies. Utilizing a descriptive design, data was collected from 81 respondents and analyzed using SPSS. The findings emphasize the effectiveness of integrating traditional practices with modern frameworks, with community mediation, customary courts, and inclusive decision-making playing key roles in fostering unity. The study advocates for empowering indigenous conflict resolution mechanisms through resource allocation, training, and dialogue between traditional leaders and modern legal systems, ensuring cultural preservation and social cohesion.
