Human beings have experienced a stark reminder of their mortality due to the coronavirus pandemic. People now realise that post-pandemic everything will not return to ‘normal’ and they are beginning to explore what does that mean for them and the life they will lead. The imposition of unprecedented periods for reflection has resulted in numerous individuals questioning what their life really means and their level of participation in society. Society members are becoming increasingly aware of the actions Governments are undertaking in their name. Several of these actions raise serious questions about the concepts of humanity, equality, freedom, and human meaning. On the basis that humans have free will and have the responsibility to create purpose in their life, the pandemic creates an opportunity for proactive change.
