Influence of Insecurity on Yam Production in FCT Nigeria

Yam production and farmers’ productivity have born the brunt of insecurity in Nigeria due to the activities of kidnappers, armed banditry, herdsmen, bokoharam insurgency and other criminal groups which has led to the loss of many lives. This has affected local economy and small scale business owners who earn a living on a daily basis. Loss of man hours due to shortened working hours has become the order of the day as farmers do not want to go very early to farm as well as stay very late as it was in the previous years. Nigeria in recent times has witnessed an unprecedented level of insecurity. This has made national security threat to be a major issue for the government and has prompted huge allocation of the national budget to security.
