This book is designed to provide an overview of the popularity, suitability, and applicability of Riverbank Filtration (RBF) technology in a fragile semi-arid region of northern Nigeria where the impact of climate change has affected both the availability and quality of water resources. Although this cost-effective technology (RBF) has been in use in many parts of the world including some African countries for improving surface water quality and augmenting the stressed groundwater sources, however, its popularity, suitability, and applicability to climate-sensitive areas such as the semi-arid region of northern Nigeria has not appraised. Thus, this short overview will trigger curiosity to both students and researchers to search for more details of this technology (RBF) regarding its efficiency from global, continental to regional perspective taking cognisance of some unique peculiarities of the area under consideration.
