Description

Different moments in Urbanism foundations call for a constant adjournment in the methods and techniques experienced in the course of the discipline, one of such being the meaning attributed to placemaking in the evolution of the paradigms. This book gathers a number of hypotheses assumed by the author in the field of place theories. Urbanism is very much influenced by zeitgeist demands. Accordingly, most of them revolve around methodological frameworks endorsed in Urbanism theories, accompanying the operative procedures performed on two different chronological moments of the discipline (Modern and Postmodern urbanism), to which the author adds a third personally called Meta-urbanism. Part 1 of the book – MODERN URBANISM – covers cases more typical of the early times of the discipline. Part 2 – POSTMODERN URBANISM – brings urbanistic experiences coinciding with the so-called Postmodern Urbanism disruptions. Finally, Part 3 – META URBANISM – moves towards the examination of the new urban environments sprouting worldwide, ascribed to the phenomenon of globalization.
