Description

This book was conceived in an attempt to douse some misconceptions or misunderstandings about the relationships between the accounting profession and general management. While general management is primarily concerned with the overall profitability and sustainability of the super-ordinate organization, accounting on the other hand is mainly concerned with providing credible information to aid management in its functions. To this extent, accounting is concerned with the process of recording, categorizing, selecting, measuring, interpreting, consolidating, verifying, and communicating necessary financial information of an organization to help management in decision making. On this basis, therefore, accounting becomes a discipline in the management sciences that composes a set of theoretical concepts for assessing and processing financial information to be used by management in its daily activities.
