Description

The scope of the book is on healthy built environments. It outlines future trends and developments and describes ways to reduce/eliminate contaminants given the design of new buildings and renovating old buildings to achieve a healthy indoor environment. It makes suggestions/recommendations on the execution of future measuring campaigns based on harmonized measurement methods and protocols and exposure monitoring for risk assessment. It addresses approaches and guidelines formulated in the first decade of the 2000s (EU, WHO) for prioritizing, assessing and regulating chemicals in indoor environments. Moreover, it provides descriptive information on indoor/outdoor air concentrations and personal exposure estimates for priority air pollutants as model compounds in indoor environments, i.e. benzene, formaldehyde, terpenes and particulate matter.
