Description

The text critically analyses the new creative technologies – AI, VR, AR, and blockchain, in particular, revolutionizing the arts and humanities field in quite an impressive way. This change is based on altering the nature of creative production, the role of authors and producers, and the way cultural studies themselves are conducted. In general, the whole process of sense-making and cultural interpretation is being reconstructed here, which is somewhat strange to comprehend. Mixing posthumanism with media theory, and digital humanities a bit in the same pot, the text points out a shift toward “distributed creativity” and “cognitive assemblages” where machines aren’t only tools but become the active creative partners. It is less like passive labor, more like they’re also doing the thinking, or at least collaborating in some noisy way. In visual arts and literature, AI image generators and language models begin to mess with the usual ideas about original authorship and authorial intent, and the attention in art from “who made it” to systems design and prompt engineering, which sounds weirdly practical.
