Description
School dropout is an issue of great academic, social, and economic concern. Every student who drops out of school is prone to delinquency. Understanding the causes that lead to dropout would help students to complete their professional studies and their insertion into productive working life. In this book, internal and external factors that may influence the student’s academic performance is analyzed. As internal factors, they analyzed the time dedicated to studying, their academic history, and the use of electronic devices, drug use, and their health condition, among other factors. On the other hand, as factors external to the student, they considered family income, transportation time to school, daily expenses, family and academic support, and the quality of the infrastructure of their school, among others. The methodology for analyzing the information collected through surveys is presented. Likewise, all variables are analyzed as a whole and their influence on academic performance, through the calculation of correlation coefficients. Finally, visual information is presented through contour plots that allow correlating triads of variables of interest.
