This book explores the roles and contributions of early childhood education on children’s educational development in contemporary Ghana. It argues that early child education has a significant role in promoting and enhancing children’s early experiences, knowledge, skills building and development. In Ghana, early childhood education has been important for brain development, social, cultural, physical and psychological development at the early years of schooling through to the primary, secondary, as well as the vocational, technical and tertiary levels of education and training. Notwithstanding, the vital role of early childhood education in facilitating children’s development with regards to their early development and socio-physical growth in-and out of the school system, several challenges, inadequate early childhood care and development centers, inadequate trained personnel to handle teaching and learning of early and pre-school education, inadequate education, teaching and learning resources and the high cost involved in children’s early education has affected the provision and promotion of an inclusive education for many children in the country.
