Description

Polluted air, global climate change, the exhaustion of fossil fuels, population growth and the increasing energy demand are the present global issues. These problems involve the power system either directly or indirectly which can somehow affect the machines operating efficiency. The evolution of electrical and electronic engineering has enhanced many issues in electrical machine field than few years ego. The concerns threatening the future are the main focus of these advancements or evolutions. As a result, during the last century, researchers continued to develop, create and design new strategies for energy saving. Additionally, the idea of integrating renewable energy sources has emerged in order to meet the demands of the electrical markets as well as the reliability of power networks which brought or increased the power quality issues affecting the machine operating efficiency. However, there are still a number of problems, such as, reliable in-situ efficiency estimation tools considering power quality that need to be resolved before electrical machines can properly operate at its optimal efficiency into an industrial process.
