Description

This book offers new perspectives on using multilayers made from bio-sourced materials, including clay and ecological additives, to promote sustainable construction with biomaterials. The first chapter describes the climate conditions of the sites studied and the physicochemical methods used to analyze the raw materials-clay from different regions of Morocco and the ecological additives: cork, expanded perlite, fibers, wool, and fiber alpha. The second chapter describes the manufacturing process of the bio-sourced materials used to produce the multilayer materials proposed.
The third chapter consists of a description of the methods used in thermal characterization, like the hot wire, the hot plate in transient and steady-state regimes, and the flash methods. Also, the thermal properties of the composites used in manufacturing the multilayer materials were given. The fourth and final chapter concerns analyzing the energy efficiency and carbon impact of the proposed multilayer materials by determining the heating and cooling needs during a year and calculating the carbon emissions of those multilayer materials.
