AGROECOLOGICAL SOLUTIONS FOR TROPICAL FARMERS

The world recognizes the impact modern solutions have had impact on the environment. There is a movement and activism to adapt solutions to the world’s problems that are environmentally friendly. It is thus with great pleasure that I present to you this book, “Agroecological solutions for tropical farmers.” Agroecological solution is an approach in agriculture that uses environmentally friendly remedies to agricultural problems. With agroecology, problems on the farm are addressed through the use of local materials generated on the farm itself. Agroecological solutions are generated through recycling elements within the physical environment using indigenous knowledge while respecting biodiversity. This makes agroecological solutions not only environmentally friendly but also financially sustainable. Crops and animals are raised in their favorable natural environment rather than forcing them to grow in unfavorable environment. This book is a compilation of research on agroecological solutions carried out in the tropical settings of Kabarole district in the western part of Uganda.
