‘Theoretical and clinical aspects of surgery in the tropics’ is a collection of work in a developing sub-Saharan country, Cameroon, by a general surgeon with interest in gastrointestinal surgery, coloproctology and surgical oncology. It is presented as monographs, reviews, surgical case reports, clinical images and original research articles on aspects of surgery. It highlights the pitfalls and problems of surgery in low-resource settings and the consequent importance and emphasis of clinical examination, diagnosis, surgical improvisation and innovation. The book is written in four volumes. Volume 1 entails basic surgical concepts and surgical sepsis; volume 2 entails topics on emergency surgery; volume 4 entails topics on surgical coloproctology and oncology.
