The most important thing in each study is not the set of facts, but the nature and significance of the conclusions that follow from the analysis of several key ideas. It was important to present the reader with original experiments and convincing numerous drawings in order to facilitate the perception of the proposed ideas and expand the circle of his ideas regarding the neurophysiology of vision. The combination of some techniques that reveal behavioral features with methods for analyzing neurophysiological mechanisms at the level of neuronal constellations makes it possible to establish a number of correspondences between modifications of complex visually controlled behavior and its cellular neuronal basis. We also subscribe to the ideas of Eric Kandel and Huxley and want to show that the systematic study of one problem leads from an understanding of ordinary experimental facts to a broad generalization useful both in the field of neurophysiology and in the field of medicine.
