Development of new spectrophotometric methods for the determination of some pharmaceutical compounds (moxifloxacin, Sildenafil Citrate, Methyldopa, Atorvastatin and Irbesartan) in both pure form and in pharmaceutical formulations has been established. Proposed methods make use of simple reagents (4-AP and MBTH), which an ordinary analytical laboratory can afford. The methods are based on the oxidative coupling reaction of the drug with a reagent in aqueous medium to form a colored product that has a maximum absorption at max. All the measurements were carried out at 25±1.0 oC. The methods were applied successfully to determination of cited drugs in tablet formulations and the results were compared with the official method. The methods are accurate, precise and highly reproducible, while being simple, cheap and less time consuming and hence can be suitable for routine quality control analysis work of pharmaceutical products.
