This monograph is devoted to the evolution and ergonomics of scientific processing as the inner path through which a problem is transformed into mature knowledge. The monograph argues that science cannot be adequately understood as a mere aggregate of separate disciplines, results, or methods in the narrow sense. What is needed is an analysis of processing itself as the structure of scientific becoming. Scientific processing is considered a sequence of interconnected transitions that include the decomposition of a problem, the identification of critical elements, assembly, the origin of knowledge, validation, and the transition toward more mature states of knowledge.
The theme of Method accompanies this analysis as its fundamental axis and is defined as intuition, structure, protocol, and the compass of truth.
Special attention is given to the Scientific Readiness Level (SRL) as a structure of scientific maturity; to the FRL, ARL, and IRL trajectories; to the organizational forms of maturity through the ARS, CSE, and SMP; to the distinction between disciplinary regimes of science; and to the problems of interdisciplinarity.
