Rıdvan Durak is a professor in the Department of Physics at Atatürk University, where he has served since 1987. He earned his PhD in 1994 with a specialization in XRF spectra interpretation. Throughout his career, he has held several administrative roles, including department chair, vocational school director, dean, and member of the Interuniversity Board (ÜAK). He has published over 80 scientific articles and reviews, authored book chapters, and translated numerous academic books. His research focuses on X- and gamma-ray physics, non-destructive qualitative and quantitative analysis, radiation dosimetry, X-ray fluorescence, radiation shielding, and the measurement of atomic parameters. In recent years, he has concentrated on designing efficient, multifunctional, non-toxic lightweight composite materials for radiation shielding, as well as research in criminalistic and forensic physics. He currently serves as editor of the Universal Journal of Materials Science (USA) and the Eastern Anatolian Journal of Science (Türkiye).
