Description

One of the most striking social phenomenon that characterizes the Black community in the United States is that, though they constitute a minority group of about 13%of the American population, they represent over 38% of the incarcerated population of the country in 2021. One may be tempted to ask why so high a number of Blacks choose to not abide by the laws of their country. Why do they choose to commit crimes? Why so many Blacks are so violent towards their own fellow Blacks? Such are the inquiries that lead us in the writing of the book. In this research we come to realize that black males in US are systematically prevented from fulfilling their role as social fathers, protectors, food, and shelter providers. This noble role gives meaning to most men in life. This systemic hindrance against black males is what we coined “Emasculation of the black males.” We think that it is in the process of fighting this injustice that most black men turn violent. This book seeks to analyze the psychological motivations that underscore this black male violence.
