This book perhaps serves as one of the pioneering complete bookwork that provides a practical fulcrum on the involvement of Non-Governmental Organisations in Crisis Management in Internally Displaced Persons’ (IDP) Camps in Northern Nigeria from the perspective of basic human needs. The Penning down of the book was informed by the authors’ concern for Millions of Nigerians who have been evicted, dislocated and relocated from their ancestral habitats and have become Internally Displaced Persons living in makeshift camps impoverished dehumanising conditions no thanks to insecurity arising mostly from Boko Haram terrorist invasion and other forms of violence. Non-governmental Organisations have been at the forefront of providing succour for IDPs in various camps especially in Northern Nigeria. Their activities, though far reaching, have not engendered much study and publicity. This is one of the raison d’être for this book.
