Description

The Alignment of Hospitality and Tourism Management Student Research to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs): A 2024–2025 Institutional Analysis examines how 150 undergraduate research outputs in Hospitality and Tourism Management contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The study reveals that most student research aligns with SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), SDG 2 (Zero Hunger), and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), focusing on food innovation, sustainable tourism, waste utilization, entrepreneurship, and community development. Through qualitative content analysis, the research highlights the significant role of higher education institutions in advancing sustainability by integrating SDGs into research and curriculum. It also identifies gaps in underrepresented goals such as climate action, reduced inequalities, and sustainable infrastructure, recommending stronger interdisciplinary collaboration, industry partnerships, commercialization of innovations, and broader SDG integration.
