In India and global market,West Bengal is known for its diversity of tourism resources from Darjeeling to Dooars in the north; Digha ,Sundarban , Santiniketan in the south, the vibrant “city of joy, Kolkata” and rural life of the Bengalese. Almost 75% of the state covers the rural landscapes hence there are more prospects for rural tourism. The aim of this co-authored book is to explore new innovations in rural tourism and its role for the community development. The book highlights the rural tourism resources of an Indian state named, West Bengal. This book creates a knowledge base for the industry practioners, academicians, researchers and students. The entire work revolves around the community development and entrepreneurship. The first part of the work discuses about the aspects of community development. The contribution of community is indeed important to render a rural region prosperous. The book describes the rural men and women who mostly are either entrepreneurs working in handicraft production; sellers, workers or simply a common person contributing to the welfare of the village by ways of rural income or involvement by utilizing the rural resources. The authors’ analyses the research gaps and provide an in-depth study on the problems and prospects of rural tourism and deep research is carried on how to undertake various measures to build West Bengal’s rural tourism as a passport for community development.
