The Inclusion of Early Childhood Development Learners with Disabilities in Mainstream Classes

Inclusive education is now a global norm aimed at promoting human rights and respect for all. The number of learners with diverse needs in schools is increasing, making thoughtful inclusion a necessity. This book argues that adaptability is essential in early childhood development settings which are inclusive in nature, requiring intentional modifications to the curriculum, teaching strategies, and learning environment. Multi-sectorial approach, and condition-specific adaptions, alongside trauma-informed and culturally sustaining approaches are vital for successful inclusion. This book moves beyond policy rhetoric, bridging inclusive education policies, medical needs, socio-cultural perspectives and inclusive education pedagogy, thereby urging educators to see beyond labels.
