This book defines doctoral research, types of research and their key functions, the depth and systematic features of the research. This is meant to enable the reader to appreciate the investment placed in the research hence the impact of the findings and recommendations.
Therefore, in writing this book, I hope to contribute to the vital work fellow academics in the field have thus far done. Aside from assisting doctoral candidates and graduates to engage stakeholders throughout their studies and make sure that their findings add value to their areas of study, research at doctoral level has to be accorded due respect. As expressed by most PhD candidates, graduates and supervisors I have conversed with, it would be ideal if universities take it upon themselves that doctoral thesis recommendations are transmitted to responsible ministries for consideration and implementation. This will allow a more structured and consistent implementation of the recommendations.
