Description

This study examines the relationship between cash management practices and the financial sustainability of female-owned enterprises in Kisii Township, Kenya. Using a descriptive survey and quantitative analysis of 100 respondents, it examines cash holding, technology use, and cash pooling practices. Results show that all three practices positively impact financial sustainability, with technology use having the strongest effect. The study highlights challenges such as limited access to formal finance and sociocultural influences on cash management. It emphasizes the importance of tailored financial literacy programs, digital financial tools, and supportive policies to enhance women entrepreneurs’ cash management capabilities. The findings contribute empirical evidence on how internal financial resources and technology adoption foster enterprise resilience and growth in resource-constrained environments, offering valuable insights for policymakers, financial institutions, and development practitioners focused on empowering women-led businesses in emerging markets.
